The Government Sales Institute was founded in 2009 for the purpose of helping small businesses become successful federal contractors. The goal of the institute is to provide training courses to participants on how to effectively do business with the Federal government and how to achieve government sales and win contracts. Preparation and training are key elements to success in government contracting and with an increasingly competitive federal marketplace, it is imperative that companies pursue the knowledge that will help them become successful federal contractors. We believe that training will provide the competitive edge. The Government Sales Institute has a number of seasoned experts and instructors with over 30 years of collective experience in the field of government procurement. The Government Sales Institute offers a number of courses on a monthly basis either through teleseminars or actual classroom training. The following course listing include but not limited to:

(1)COURSE DESCRIPTION CIG -01 – HOW TO DO BUSINESS WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

This course examines the fundamentals of doing business with Federal government. The registration process and small business certifications will be discussed. This course will examine opportunities in subcontracting, teaming arrangements and partnerships and how to leverage these relationships. The importance of obtaining a GSA Schedule contract and other Government-wide agency contracts (GWACS) will be discussed. The student will be introduced to the federal acquisition process and how the Federal government operates with regards to purchasing products and services. The course will also explore various strategies of marketing to the Federal government.

(2) COURSE DESCRIPTION CIG-02 – HOW TO WIN GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS

This course will examine effective and proven strategies of winning government business. The student will be introduced to the Federal acquisition process and how the government operates with regards to purchasing products and services. This course will examine effective methods of how to submit bids and offers in response to Solicitations, Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Request for Quotes (RFQs). This course will introduce case studies as a learning tool for the participant. This course will examine effective marketing techniques and the importance of focusing on the buying patterns of federal agencies. The significance of market research and analysis will be emphasized throughout the course. The course will explore the role of Contracting Officers, Program Managers and End users in securing a government contract.

(3) COURSE DESCRIPTION CIG -03 – GSA SCHEDULE WORKSHOP AND PROPOSAL PREPARATION

This workshop will define and examine the dimensions of a GSA Schedule contract. This 3 or 5 day intensive workshop is design primarily for the business who is seeking to obtain a GSA Schedule contract. The instructor will assist and instruct the participant with proposal preparation. The participant will be greatly involved in the process of gathering documents and information. The instructor will guide the participant accordingly through the entire proposal preparation process. At the end of the workshop, the participant will have a proposal completed or near completion and ready to submit to GSA for review.

(4) COURSE DESCRIPTION CIG -04 – HOW TO LEVERAGE YOUR 8(A) CERTIFICATION

This course examines how to leverage your 8(a) status and become a successful federal contractor. This course will examine the benefits of sole source contracts and 8(a) set-asides. This course will explore the benefits of the 8(a) certification as it relates to subcontracting opportunities, teaming arrangements and partnerships with prime contractors. The student will be introduced to the federal acquisition process and how the Federal government utilizes 8(a) companies as it relates to purchasing products and services. The course will also explore various strategies of marketing your 8(a) status to the Federal government and large businesses.
